Overview

TSO₃ Inc. was founded in Québec City, Canada, in 1998. The Company's mission is to develop and market innovative and comprehensive sterilization solutions.

TSO₃ has perfected an innovative sterilization process using ozone as the sterilizing agent. The ozone sterilization process is a safe, efficacious, fast and cost-effective response to evolving sterilization needs.

The first product based on this technological platform is the 125L Ozone Sterilizer, which is intended for hospital sterilization departments. The 125L - named after its 125-litre/4.3-cubic-foot capacity - was designed to sterilize heat and moisture-sensitive surgical and diagnostic devices which are expensive and in high demand from the surgical suite.

The 125L Ozone Sterilizer by TSO₃ has been cleared for commercialization by Health Canada and more recently by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). TSO₃ began undertaking the sale of its first product in 2006.

Historical Data

The efforts that led to the creation of a working ozone sterilizer began after a meeting of the International Ozone Association in the early 1990s. Although the first health care ozone sterilizer had been designed in 1989, it had never performed consistently. Attendees at the meeting speculated that the obstacle to successful ozone sterilization was sustaining the optimal level of ozone at the appropriate level of humidity.

In 1994, the engineering leadership at an ozone water treatment company undertook the applied research that led to the development of a novel method of creating and controlling ozone in a contained environment.

In 1998, the company spun off Technologies of Sterilization with Ozone (TSO₃) as a separate company, with a charter to focus on commercializing the ozone sterilization platform created in the lab.

TSO₃ received clearance from both Health Canada and the FDA to market the sterilizer to health care facilities in Canada and the United States respectively.
